The PA Save Our Homes Coalition Rally and Lobby Day was very successful. A good crowd attended and lobby visits were conducted to most of the leadership of the House and Senate. There is bi-partisan support for HEMAP but the Governor remains an obstacle. We still hope to have HEMAP funding included in a supplemental appropriation, but it is critical that the demand for continuing HEMAP remain strong.
Housing counselors should encourage clients, who now no longer have access to EHLP or HEMAP, to contact their legislators to ask for help. Letters should be sent to legislators. You can use the sample letter* and just type in the name of your local elected officials. We need everyone to help press for HEMAP to protect the homes of Pennsylvania citizens during this long lasting recession!
