Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)CHIP is a health insurance program for children in low-income families. It is for families who make more than the cutoff for Healthy Beginnings. Coverage is either free or subsidized, depending on family income. CHIP benefits cover immunizations, routine check-ups, diagnostic testing, prescriptions, dental, vision, and hearing services, emergency care, mental health benefits, up to 90 days hospitalization per year, durable medical equipment, substance abuse rehabilitation, partial hospitalization for mental health, rehabilitation therapy and home health care. |

Eligibility
The following factors are considered for a child's eligibility for CHIP:
- Must not be eligible for Medicaid or have any other health insurance
- Must be under age 19
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful alien
- Must be a Pennsylvania resident for at least 30 days, except for newborns
- Meet family income limits

Early and Periodic Screening and Diagnosis Treatment (EPSDT)
EPSDT
is for children on MA. It notifies parents and physicians of the
need for periodic evaluations and treatment, including assistive
technology devices and services to eligible children. Children
who are eligible for MA are automatically eligible for EPSDT services.
