Unemployed at the Jobs Summit

While President Obama hosted the Jobs Summit at the Old Executive Office Building next to the White House nearly 200 unemployed workers rallied outside the event.  Coming from New York, DC, Ohio, Virginia and Pennsylvania the workers called for aggressive action to create jobs, continuing the extension of unemployment benefits and help for unemployed homeowners facing foreclosure.  Several of those going inside including Anna Burger head of Change to Win labor federation stopped and spoke to the crowd.  The groups are loosely aligned with the Center for Community Change.  They are calling for a public jobs program similar to the WPA of the Depression or the CETA program of the 1970s.
