Commuter Options’ First PUP Pool!
Thursday, August 2nd, 2007The Commuter Options programs is pleased to announce the creation of the first pool whose ridership is 100% PUP members.
On August 1, Commuter Options provided a mini van for 7 PUP members starting new jobs at Moyer Packing Company, a food packing company, in Souderton, PA. These PUP members were interviewed at the PUP office on Friday July 27 by recruiters from Moyer and selected for employment. They will be working the 3rd shift and will be receiving full benefits after completing a probationary period.
Moyer has indicated they will be hiring for many more jobs at their Sourderton plant and it is anticipated that they will continue utilize PUP as an employment source.
This pool was the result of the Commuter Options Project Developer contacting an employer to partner with us in a program in which unemployed residents of Philadelphia can be interviewed for positions in which they will have transportation to suburban locations. It should be noted that the Earn Center in North Philly is also working with Moyer.
It is anticipated that additional pools will developed as more individuals are hired. PUP is extremely excited about this endeavor and looks forward to the expansion of Commuter Options through this program.
