Recap from PUP Trip To Washington to Rally for Public Jobs Act!
Wednesday, May 26th, 2010On Tuesday, May 25 2010, members of the Philadelphia Unemployment Project traveled to Washington DC in support of the Local Jobs for America Act (HR 4812). While in DC, PUP members attended a Congressional Forum focused on the bill and listened to testimonies given by unemployed people from across the United States.
We visited many Congresspeople and demanded that they become a part of this important legislation. The Local Jobs for America Act (HR 4812) provides $100 billion dollars over two years and would create a million public and private jobs in local communities in the US. This program is very important to the American people as the economy continues to leave millions of our citizens unemployed with no end in sight.
With 15 MILLION Americans out of work, it is imperative that we make our voices heard in Washington! Contact your local Congresspeople and tell them that their job is not over yet and that more needs to be done to put the millions of unemployed Americans back to work NOW.
